The blink-and-you-missed-it Ferry pencil moustache from 1976 graced the cover of his third solo album Let’s Stick Together. Although a short-lived project it was quite possibly an influence on Midge Ure’s widely admired 1979 effort.
Ron Mael only at 20 is no sort of taches-in-pop poll. Especially as it's one behind an effort so much "now an essential part of the musician turned author’s persona" that he shaved it off in July.
My favourite moustache description there is definitely the one for John Oates where they emphasise its mystery. It still isn't quite as enigmatic as the mysterious popularity of Hall & Oates. It'll take more than a 'tache to solve that one for me.
