Alan McGee accepts the blame

In Q Magazine's How To Buy Creation Records feature, Alan McGee issues an apology:

Ride were great from the first day I met them. They were shoegaze with tunes - a massive influence on bands like Coldplay. I hold myself responsible for fucking up their career by introducing them to The Byrds and The Beatles.
Actually, McGee is being uncharacteristically harsh on himself - certainly The Beatles were there from the get-go, as Tomorrow Never Knows shows.

You've got to love the fact that having a president stay at your house is a throwaway line in comparison to having the opportunity to whine about Kevin Shields' spending your money. I thought these days he had switched to hating Loveless?

As it happens, I'm in the middle of listening to the recent and utterly unexpected Apple Boutique compilation (http://www.vollwert-records.de/shop/catalog/details?shop_param=aid%3D191%26) not on Creation. What could have been, eh?
