I always assumed that it was about something by Jenny Lewis, based on little more than speculation. Kirsten Dunst (another ex of Gyllenhaal's) has stated how enthusiastic he is about Rilo Kiley, and Gyllenhaal's first public appearance after splitting with Swift was to take Lewis to the Golden Globe awards in 2011 - which may be a "screw you", or just coincidence.
