OH 'ALBION' - YES, YOU'VE NOT DONE THAT BEFORE, PETE

Babyshambles have confirmed details of their debut album, which will, of course, be called Down In Albion - due 14th November - and then followed by a single called Albion, on 28th November.

It's not like Pete Doherty gets fixated on a single idea or anything, is it?

The thing that gets me is the way the "FUCKING NME" swoon and praise a band that, lets face it, are a pile of wank. If it was any other band in the world releasing these tracks they would pour scorn and flush them down the pan quicker than you can say "i'd quite like to nut johnny cocking borrel".
I'm in the vid for Can't stand me now and that was an awesome night out. i saw them @ Reading last last year without pete and they were proper shite! I just don't know what to think anymore...
Oh yeah and Yeti suck.

Well i think thats all the bases covered. ta.

Does it all really matter in the grand scope of larger things?

Aie aie aie, they can't call it that. Albion was a Libertines song before Babyshambles.

But I guess it's less of a 'fuck you, Carl' than the previously mooted title, 'Up The Morning'

And it was Brighton and Hove's football team before that...

My grandma used to live in Albion House, and she never did cocaine.*

It's funny, I never usually read the comments you receive, but lately I've noticed you get a lot of stick for the things you say.

Does it really matter? Well no, but your blog wouldn't be any good if you didn't pass comment on the little things.

Your blog is ace. And I usually agree with every word :)

Hey Simon,

While I normally agrees with your analysis of most things, in this case the fact that he's invoked Albion is actually a cause for celebration. Albion (and specifically Blake's Albion) are what fuelled the mythology of The Libertines and is a considerable amount of what made The Libertines so beguiling to anyone with half an imagination in the first place.

If it does signal a return to the power of the imagination rather than, say, self-obseesed pity-me lyrics then cheers for that.

Mr Hixon should perhaps see Babyshambles on this tour, it would appear Doherty's doing that thing he's always managed: at the point when all is lost he tours his arse off and plays blinding shows.

Still, you're a lucky bleeder for seeing the Libertines when the Can't Stand Me Now video was filmed.

Click Here to See Hurricane Pics is a tad misleading in their message. The blog that they are asking you to visit is somewhat evangelical.

I, for one, believe that a world in which blogs are not allowed to tell us about the nasty 'welcome to motherhood' gift that Christina Aguilera may or may not have given Britney Spears...or that rather amazing article about Robbie Williams and mens' rooms...is world in which the hurricanes have already won.

B-sides, the good people of New Orleans made an effort to hold their Southern Decadence parade on Tuesday, September 6. I'll take my philosphical cues from that then.
