Maida decision: Vale to close

The BBC are closing the Maida Vale studios, where most of the Peel Sessions and countless other performances have been recorded over the years, because it'll raise tonnes of cash if they sell its prime location to developers ("because it's not suitable for the "21st-century digital age".")

Oddly, they did manage to record the Arcade Fire there in sound and vision last week without too much difficulty. Perhaps that was in analogue.

Remember, saying that something is "not suitable for the 21st-century digital age" excuses you from having to give a real explanation.

That sound you can hear is John Peel and Tommy Vance, turning in their graves....
