NOW THE SMITHSONIAN CRASHES DOWNLOAD MARKET: The Smithsonian has announced plans to put its folk music archives online as paid-for downloads (99 cents a pop, if "pop" isn't the wrong word), making material from the Folkways archive more widely available - which means stuff from Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Pete Seeger and loads of others. At this point they don't have any plans to offer anything by Beyonce.
