ANOTHER RACHEL STEVENS PROJECT BITES THE DUST

The Sunday Mirror is fuming at Oxfam scrapping an advert featuring Rachel Stevens (and others, like Vernon Kay, Nancy Sorrell and June Sarprong... we're starting to guess why they decided to never show it), on the grounds that it cost a quarter of a million quid and that could have bought 11,000 blankets. Which it could, but it suggests the Mirror doesn't really understand modern charities - spending a quarter of a million on an advert may or may not be a scandal, but the money will have come from the charity's marketing budget. So wasting 250k on getting Vernon Kay to burble for a bit is wasting money that otherwise could have paid for thousands of rubbish biros to be sent to people to put into their bins, not money that would have actually been spent doing what it was given to the charity to do in the first place.
