Prince: The returns

2007: Prince does a large scale comeback, distributing a new album for free with the Mail On Sunday. Everyone's invited.

Result: Little interest.

2014: Prince does a small scale comeback, playing tiny gigs in London at which a surprisingly high proportion of attendees work in the media.

Result: Front pages held, features on Today, mass acclaim, etc.

But still, he is only number 90 in the singles chart (U2, similarly, struggle to number 65). Number 90. Lower than "Clown" by Emeli Sande.

This is the great thing about the current singles chart: the Blairite / Cameronite / Guardianista / tabloid Times icons can no longer get in it, which alone puts it far closer to what it should always be in the first place.
