WHAT DO FAILED POPSTARS DO?

It's an interesting question, and one which Lisa Scott-Lee will be pondering: if you've had the shot at a pop career, and it's not worked, what do you do? Especially if you've already tried acting and that option seems to have dried up a bit.

She could take the Adam Rickett route. Having failed to spin a pop career out of his time pretending to have been the product of Gail Tilsley's insides as Nick in Coronation Street into a music career, he's now sniffing around (sorry, not a phrase the the Tories would be comfortable with right now) the Conservatives looking to get on the party's prospective MP list.

Well, he's prettier than Cameron, and when he did all that mock-outraged bluster when Todd kissed his character, he's certainly got the acting skills to pull off that 'do as I say, not as I do' policy activity. It's just a shame there's not going to be any more music from Adam.

Unless he doesn't win a seat. Oddly, though, he doesn't seem to have told his agent about his plan to become the new Anthony Eden. Adam, Adam: there's no shame in being a Tory these days. Well, not much.
