Buckcherry sex toys empire set to expand

Did you know that Buckcherry market their own range of sex toys? I'm assuming their dildos, if they're anything like their music, will be a bit disappointing - you can see what they're trying to do, but it's not very satisfying and nowhere near hard enough.

Still, their popular with their fans, according to the band's Josh Todd:

The band has its own line of sex toys, Crazy Bitch Toys. Are the products hot sellers?

Yes! We have a dildo, condoms and are working on adding a vibrator and butt-plug. People like us to sign them, usually. I hope they use them. We have some things in the works though it’s too soon to talk about them.
I'm not sure I'd use the phrase "we have some things in the works" when talking about sex toy development.

The idea that Buckcherry are busily trying to design a butt-plug is somehow cheering. Or at least more cheering than the thought they might be writing more songs.

An old-fashioned round-up

Police! Do you need to boost your clean-up rates by rounding up some lightweight "criminals"? Just arresting a few fans at local metal gigs can increase the number of solved crimes on your patch.

Don't just take our word for it - ask Derry Township Police Department. They employed a sweep of the Hershey Buckcherry/Avenged Sevenfold/Papa Roach gig and wound up with 17 extra arrests.

It's true. They found these results:

* Four charges for possession of marijuana
* Five charges for disorderly conduct
* Eight charges for underage drinking
* Three charges for public drunkenness
* One charge for criminal mischief

These were on top of eleven similar not-that-serious arrests made at Motley Crue earlier in the month. Thank god for someone brave enough to take the criminal mischief-makers off the street, eh?

Too thick to leak

The default No Rock eyebrow position when we hear of bands in need of publicity whose tracks "leak" onto the internet is half-raised; now, our suspicion that the leak/moan about leak strategy is well in play has been confirmed - The Wall Street Journal reports that Torrentfreak has caught Buckcherry redhanded.

The "leak" of Too Drunk To Fuck outraged the band:

Buckcherry wrote in a July 3 MySpace posting that "we hate it when this s- happens, because we want our FANS to have any new songs first." In that post, the band provided a link that allows fans to download a copy of the song, and soon after posted a music video on its Web site. A July 22 news release from Atlantic quoted the band making the same complaint.

The trouble is, it turns out that the leak came from the band's manager, Josh Klemme.

But, of course, the record industry couldn't be using illegal filesharing as a marketing route, could it? Because that could create a hypocrisy-feedback-loop out of which we might never escape.
