Apology and correction

On August 4th, 2004, I made a post to No Rock And Roll Fun in which I made reference to a McCains Oven Chips advert:

What's most ridiculous about this, of course, is the band don't even sing in the bloody advert - at least if it had been, say, the "alien invasion/ what on earth are we going to do" band from the KitKat ad, or the woman who used to trill that "I'm a McCains Oven Chips fan/better for the kids and the old man/better than chips from a chip pan/twenty per cent less fat", they had some sort of musical bit in their commercial.
It has recently been pointed out to me by Cumbrian Spaceman that McCains Oven Chips actually pledged forty per cent less fat.

Video confirmation of my error:

This was a regrettable mistake, and clearly the original post fell short of the high standards we hope to achieve. I apologise to the readers, and to McCains.

New York Times gets riot grrl wrrrng

The New York Times had a few notes:

An article on June 5 about the riot grrrl musical movement and its legacy misidentified the original song containing the lyrics “boy girl revolution.” It was “Her Jazz” by Huggy Bear, not one by Kathleen Hanna, who was in the band Bikini Kill. The article also misidentified the singer who first performed the song “I Wish I Was Him.” It was an Australian musician, Ben Lee, not Ms. Hanna. The article also misstated the ages of the teenage musicians Coco Moore and Aziza Akhmatova. Ms. Moore is 16, not 15; Ms. Akhmatova is 15, not 16

Mills - she doesn't even speak proper, either

A slightly bashful Times explains this morning why it couldn't find the website Heather Mills was talking about:

— Thanks to GMTV for providing soft southern journalists with a transcript of yesterday’s interview with Heather Mills. We were all, obviously, confused by her continual reference (in her thick, Geordie brogue) to the “uk.com” website. “Please note,” says a press release, “the website Heather Mills refers to in her interview with GMTV is actually www.youcare.com.”

And, a slightly bashful No Rock and Roll Fun thanks the commenters who pointed out that Jonathan Ross did - jokingly - call her a fucking liar. But at the Q Awards, so it's not like it was in public.

Nixey fixey

We are, of course, totally fallible, what with being made of flesh and that stuff that ruins the carpet if it sinks in.

But we still can't quite explain how we decided to suggest that Sarah Nixey was ever in Client. Obviously she wasn't, and we regret the error.

To make amends, we'll point out that Nixey is playing Po Na Na in Brighton on Sunday, and that if you want to sample before you commit yourself, her website is streaming samples of what she's up to now.
