Where's the Cougar musical, matey?

Those holding their breath for the Stephen King/John Mellencamp musical might need to ask David Blaine for a few lessons, as they're going to need to hold their breath for another year.

Although the musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County had been due to open in the forthcoming season at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta. But now it won't, because, erm, it's not even been written yet.

Given that the pencilled in date was April 2009, and they're already off schedule for that, even the "2009/2010 season" might be looking a little optimistic. Is it really that hard to come up with rhymes for "ghosties"?

Madonna: Almost officially famous

The inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 2008, have been announced: Madonna - who has donated large numbers of items to the museum - is in; The Beastie Boys - who haven't - are not. Funny that.

Also going in will be John 'Where's The Cougar' Mellencamp and Leonard Cohen. The funny thing is, despite the amount of cash the good people of Cleveland have poured in to the Hall, they hold the induction in New York. It's almost as if the birthplace of rock and roll isn't good enough for today's rock and rollers, isn't it?

Madonna now officially "a monument"

The clearest signal so far that Madonna's creative days are behind her, and she's in the ossification phase of her career: She's being considered for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Also fighting with her to get the induction, and a large display explaining to people why they used to be popular are Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, Chic, the Dave Clark Five and Afrika Bambaataa.

We're starting the campaign for the Dave Clark Five right here.
