Darkness at 3AM: They've got the big Amy story, too

The 3AM team aren't going to be left snoozing by The Sun, though: they're reporting that, erm, Amy is being feted by TV networks for an exclusive interview:

In the States, Larry King has been bombarding Amy's people with requests to get her on his CNN show, Larry King Live. Oprah Winfrey has made similar inquiries. And in Blighty, Sir Trevor McDonald is pulling out all the stops to bag Amy, too.

Trevor? Really?
Sir Trevor has come out fighting. The ITV news anchorman is planning a one-off Tonight special with Amy and has already made discreet inquires as to whether she would consider doing it.

We hear: "Trevor knows the US market may have a slight edge money-wise, but he feels strongly that he can get her. There are so many unanswered questions from Amy about her drug use and time in rehab - not to mention her Grammy comeback. It will be compulsive viewing."

But hasn't Trevor given up doing Tonight to concentrate all his energies on the revived (okay, maybe not revived) News At Ten?

Elsewhere in 3AM, Chris Martin is spotted out without a wedding ring. More to the point, though, is how they describe his coat:
The Coldplay singer wrapped up in this michelin style jacket as he rode around London on his bicycle.

Presumably they actually mean Michelin-man style jacket, rather than that his coat was like a car tyre?

They axed World In Action for this, you know

It's funny that Martin Bashir is still dining off his interview for Panorama with Mrs. Diana, lady Princess - nobody seems to remember his more recent 'scoops' like the Steven Lawrence suspects, do they?

Anyway, the latest boinkster who's agreed to have Bashir's insightful "Just why are you so lovely" flummery directed 'at' them is Michael Jackson. I

n what must surely be a low point for ITV's Current Affairs output, a ninety minute Tonight special is dedicated to the crumbly face man - this a few months after Mariah Carey was given the full soft questions, hard sell commercial-dressed-as-news treatment. ITV have a record for making very bad pop shows (Get It Together, The Roxy, Pennis Pops Out) and it seems to be a tradition that the current affairs department is keen to keep alive.

We're predicting Christina Aguilera for Christmas.
