CHAD KROEGER WANTS HIS NICKELS BACK

Chad Kroeger, the part-man, part-gargoyle who leads Nickelback, seems outraged that his former drummer Ryan Vikedal dares to be asked for the work he did when he was in the team. Kroeger is asking a court to declare that he, and he alone, made the songs:

Kroeger says he has demanded that Vikedal sign registration forms returning their interests in future performance royalties and repaying any royalties since January.

Kroger says Vikedal has either neglected or refused to comply and has continued to receive payments. Vikedal could not be reached for comment.

So - and we don't have Nickelback records here to check - it seems like Vikedal has been given the writers credits, and now Kroeger wants him to give them up. Vikedal, not surprisingly, seems less than keen on doing this - but we do love the way Chad seems surprised that he's not just signed the papers and given up his income stream. The question would be, if Vikedal hadn't written any of the songs, why was Kroeger happy for him to be earning royalties off them in the first place?
