The review that's just too good

With - at least in public - both band and label admitting that the Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong album isn't anything like good enough, it's surprising that the NME has given it an enthusiastic eight-out-of-ten review.

Not to worry, I seem to remember the Terris album getting a pretty good score too back in the day.

Actually I seem to remember that the Terris album didn't get that good a score. By the time their album came out the backlash was in full swing and the NME had jumped on the bandwagon pretty quick. Then again maybe I'm the only person who actually liked the Terris album. (Probably because the hype had made me expect something really really bad)

The reviews over at the NME get worse and worse. Not in terms of score or their opinion of "cool" but just in standards of writing. Earlier in the year I read a review on their website and was appalled. I thought fair enough I don't agree with the conclusion of this review so I'm probably being biased (I can't even remember what album it was now). So I looked around for a positive review of something I also liked and found this re-release. I could not believe that the magazine has now reached such a low level that they actually printed a review that commends an album by saying that possession of it will get you sex. (I won't even mention the poor musical comparisons, etc.)
