Imbruglia detached

Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns out of Silverchair are no longer married, they say in a disjointing statement:

“While we are very sad that our marriage has ended we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends."

“This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly.

“However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us.

“We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together.”

You might have thought the solution to that would be, perhaps, spending more time together rather than simply divorcing - especially if you like each other so very, very much - but perhaps I'm just a soppy old romantic.

Cushioned excitement

Silverchair have returned to the studio, with the intention of breaking a record for the most Australian number one albums, although NME reports the record is currently shared between Midnight Oil and Cold Chisel - so, surely, the best Silverchair could be doing is trying to equal the record rather than break it?

Still, it sounds, uh, thrilling:

[W]hen recording the new album songwriter Daniel Johns reportedly wrote "more than 20 songs" about insomnia.

Then he decided to try Horlicks, which worked.

Having had to resort to flogging face goober in '01, Natalie Imbruglia is reduced to marrying the singer out of Silverchair (the perpetually "not pictured Daniel Johns") in the hope that those seasonal credit card bills can be offset by a cheque from Hello.
