Kym Marsh to return to music with the help of... hang on, is this a typo?

Is Kym Marsh really planning to relaunch her music career? (If you can call being in Hear'Say a music career in the first place?)

Given that her character in Coronation Street is being so awfully written at the moment, it's easy to see how music might seem a more tempting job. But it's quite a big task to go from the Rovers to the charts again. She'd need help.

What's that, Daily Mirror? She's got help?

Kym Marsh is looking to go from soap star back to pop star with news David Gest is pushing her to relaunch a career in music.
Gest is pairing her up with Candi Staton for a gig he's organising, and sees it leading onto bigger things:
He added: "I think this record will put Kym right back on top of the charts. Candi and Kym will perform a duet together on the closing date of my tour at Gilgamesh in Camden.

"They will be performing Candi's version of 'Suspicious Minds', which was a top 10 hit for her in the UK."
Suspicious Minds peaked at 31 in the UK.

It looks like a typical bit of Gest work - a Marsh/Staton live duet would be an interesting thing and worth mentioning, but as ever, he's overselling it as something that it isn't. I suspect Marsh better prepare herself for another few years of yomping through never-ending rows with Tracy Barlow yet.

Gordon in the morning: Confused

There's some tired 'oh, Kym Lomas is out with a young man - tee hee, it's her son' knockabout this morning:

But the strapping young man on her arm was in fact her SON, David.

Hard to believe he’s the same youngster pictured below visiting Disneyland Paris with his mum back in 2001.
Really? It's twelve years ago, and you're struggling to believe that an 18 year old looks different from how he did when he was six?
But with 36-year-old Kym looking as good as she does, it’s no wonder there was a bit of confusion...
And confusion there was. The Sun doesn't even seem certain what Kym's name is...

Darkness at 3AM: Crushed

A scoop for the 3AM Girls. Or at least something they read somewhere. Kym Marsh used to have a little crush on the man she now co-stars with:

"I used to fancy Simon [Gregson] - and now I act with him."

Of course, it's not that unusual for former members of Hear'Say to now be working with the objects of their teenage passions. We know for a fact Danny always did love the Big Mac.

Sorry turns out to be a fairly easy word after all

Elton John has trouble standing by his bitchier comments, because he usually ends up working with the people he's slagged off. It's lucky the man can be a diplomat when needed, like playing with Hear'Say. Kym Marsh remembers:

"He'd called us the ugliest band he'd ever seen.

"Then we did the Variety Performance and he was a guest. He said, 'It was really immature of me.'

Then he looked at Danny and said, 'Any chance of a date?'"

Good lord, there's making up and there's taking one for the team.

HEARSAY, YOUR HONOUR: Who on earth would have bothered to audition to fill Kym's hole in the now-almost-defunct Hear'say? It's an honour on a par with the one given to that annoying American who took over Morning Edish when the Bake went to Radio One (i.e. not exactly the sort of job security a mortgage lender would be looking for). And apparently some of the hundreds who turned up to audition are really pissed off - in a way, you can't blame them, since the first thinning out was done on looks alone (second, probably, since anyone with any sense had been ruled out by not bothering to go and join the media circus in the first place); obviously the schedule was pressing and they didn't have time to pretend this time that everyone was in with a chance...
