Sophie Ellis Bextor clears it up

Rushing to Twitter, Fab Sophie corrects the wrong impression a BBC interview might have given:

i forgot to say I HAVEN'T COLLECTED STAMPS SINCE I WAS 8. just to clear that up

That's a night spent steaming definitives off envelopes wasted, then.

Murder on the Google

Sophie Ellis-Bextor tells the News Of The World that she sometimes tries to make herself feel bad using modern technology:

HAVE YOU EVER...
Googled yourself? When I'm feeling masochistic I Google 'I Hate Sophie Ellis-Bextor' to see the horrible things people say about me.

To be honest, though, Sophie, you do only get 246 results, which isn't that bad.

Although:
I like this spoof coz I hate Sophie Ellis Bextor, at least didn't like her when she was famous .

... that 'when' might well smart a bit.

Just as a matter of comparison, if you use Bing, you only get one response on the search. Perhaps they could use "not as good at finding people who hate you" in one of their adverts with Dean Cain.

Sophie puzzled by Spice Girls strip

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has a problem with the Spice Girls' new video:

"I don't like the video.

"I don't understand why they're singing in their underwear when they're talking about friendship.

"They are supposed to be singing about being friends - why do they have to be in their bra and pants to do that?"

Normally, we'd suggest that it was something to do with trying to flog singles, but... Geri Halliwell in her pants isn't going to sell very much of anything, is it?

Still, we're surprised at Sophie's confusion... perhaps she might need to search her memory to find the link between 'promoting records' and 'being in your skimpies'?

Sophie Ellis-Bextor opens up for Gary Barlow

What could be sweeter than a Take That tour with no Robbie Williams, but added Sophie Ellis-Bextor?

Sophie is putting her own tour on hold to do the Take That swoosh:

"I'm thrilled Take That have asked me to tour with them," she added. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity any girl would be a fool to turn down.

"I promise you when my own tour happens next year it'll be bigger and better than ever."

... and, if the gamble pays off, include a few extra ticket sales to converted That fans.

We (or, rather, NTK.net) name the spam bands

What saddens us is not so much that truly heroic acts like Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Elvis Costello feel the need to sign up with a corporation like digital outlook, a group that organises mass-spam-a-thons to plug products, but that they choose a company whose quality of work so obviously says "advertising message disguised - badly - as genuine recommendation" like this.

Real people don't say things like "I'll definitely be buying the album on the 15th" - jesus, people in proper commercials stopped saying stuff like that in about 1985.

The trouble is this whole area stinks - of course, it's not illegal, but its like having your mother vote for you in Porn Stunt Double Cock of the Year.

When Digital Outlook simper Positive reviews generated on almost all leading game sites/shops, do they realise they're more or less blowing the game? They admit they used guerrilla marketing (including reviews) as part of the campaign. This may be legal, but it strikes us as fraudulent, or at best just dishonest. Shabby shame on any artist using such methods.

The search monster commeth

If you're really keen to see "sophie ellis bextor PETA photo", try here. The person searching for "sophie ellis"+"silk cut" - you wouldn't be trying to dig up evidence of the new face of anti-smoking campaigns enjoying a ciggie in the past, would you? "rspca advert dead kitten" and "drink driving car crash photos" - do we look like a repository for public information films? The searcher looking for "pictures of Holly Vallance twat or cunt" - we thank you for your flexibility - would chuff or minge do? And "Playboy Meg White"? Dream on, boy...

No fags, no furs - what do you do?

Sophie Ellis Bextor is taking time off from telling people not to smoke by telling them not to wear fur, either. FabSophie is shown in a new series of PETA ads holding up the gizzards of a dead fox. She still looks curiously sexy, too. SEB: The Moby that doesn't come across like a sanctimonious schmuck.
