Gordon in the morning: The upside of negative equity

Something we all can enjoy: Robbie Williams has lost a pile selling his Wiltshire house:

It was little more than a year ago he bought his Wiltshire mansion for £8.2m and it is now being touted on the market for "just" £7.5m.

Still, on the plus side he won't have to pay upfront for a HIPS survey, so that's a few quid he's saved.

In other news, Gordon's busily choosing a hat for the wedding of Nicole Sherzinger and Lewis Hamilton, who he reckons are about to get engaged.

You remember Nicole and Lewis; they were the couple who Gordon exclusively revealed had split up a few weeks back.

Gordon in the morning: Bunch of DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio is apparently still in London. Or, as Gordon would have it:

THE Titanic pulling efforts of LEONARDO DiCAPRIO are giving my Bizarre Shagger Of The Year competition an unexpected Hollywood twist.

Leo The Lady Slayer has been going through a seriously impressive purple patch with the opposite sex during his time in London.

What is Leo The Lady Slayer meant to mean? Is Leo meant to sound like Buffy? Is The Lady Slayer a pun on DiCaprio? What does it mean?

Apparently Leo's purple patch - let's not - is because he went for a drink with Ashley Roberts out of Pussycat Dolls. Or:
Leo has worked his magic with ASHLEY ROBERTS from the naughtiest girl group in pop.
[...]
After a few pleasantries Leo invited her to join him at West End club Whisky Mist - and just hours later he had the Pussycat purring along with his wisecracks.

If you take a few hours before someone will laugh at your jokes, you're having an uphill struggle - and not like that - surely? Come to that, though, how do you "purr along with a wisecrack" in the first place?

Gordon in the morning: Pool feed

Interesting. Gordon returns once more to the Cole-Tweedy marriage, running a photo of Ashley Cole rubbing his eyes in a swimming pool.

To the casual observer, this looks like a bloke rubbing his eyes after swimming. But to Gordon, where everything is about one thing, it's bubbling with subtexts:

IT LOOKS like CHERYL COLE has finally got husband ASHLEY trained.

He was relaxing in the hotel pool ahead of the Chelsea v Inter Milan friendly in Pasadena, California, when two girls swam by for a chat.

He managed to cover his eyes with his hands to avoid looking at their bikini-clad bods - but maybe he was still taking a cheeky peek.

So not only has he managed to take a snapshot and put a whole different context on it, but he's loaded on a second possible context as well. Go, Gordon Smart.

Elsewhere, Gordon is applauding the Pussycat Dolls:
THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS have gone up in my estimation after racking up an £18,000 bar bill on a night out in London.

The Sun can never work out where it stands on alcohol, can it? The Pussycat Dolls piss away eighteen grand, and it's up in their estimation. If you're not famous, though, drinking too much is shameful and part of Britain being all broken.

Gordon in the morning: Winehouse of pain

Credited solely to "an insider", Gordon gets all scoopy with claims that Island have knocked back Amy Winehouse's new record faster than Amy can knock back a bottle of vodka:

“She seems to have ditched her trademark vintage soul sound and is now heavily influenced by reggae. Her bosses don’t think it’s a wise move to change her style so sharply and have told her that.”

Perhaps this is true. But what's completely lacking from the article is the vital detail of whether the new stuff is simply a sudden and sharp change of musical style, or if it's not any good, either. In other words: is Island panicking at being presented with something creative and challenging, or holding something that doesn't actually work.
The source added: “It’s crucial Amy’s return is handled properly.

“If she puts out a record that is in any way half-baked, that could severely damage her long-term prospects, so everyone’s focus at the minute is getting it right, even if that means telling Amy some things she probably won’t want to hear.”

But if Amy is the sort of talent Island has spent the last half-decade telling us she is, shouldn't they trust her a bit?

You might have seen Pete Doherty's TV complaint about how the media has created an 'evil twin' version of him:
"I call him my evil twin, this fella they've [the media] created. He looks a little bit like me, apart from he's filthy and he's always pulling a weird expression, or doing something violent or illegal."

How frustrating that must be. Mind you, the evil twin does work with the press, doesn't he? Yesterday, you could hear Gordon punching the air as he read Pete's Q interview and found a lovely, lovely big quote:
He moans in an interview in the new issue of Q magazine: “I wanted to see LILY ALLEN play the other week.

“But her label EMI got in touch and said, ‘We don’t want you there because Kate Moss will be there and it will take attention away from Lily. Can you not go?’

“I was so insulted.

“I don’t know. I think I would have been courteous enough.

“Then I’d probably have head-butted her new boyfriend, put her over my shoulder and run off.”

Nice to see, by the way, that EMI has so much faith in Lily Allen's ability to hold people's attention that they ask people not to go to her gigs.

Gordon then takes Lewis Hamilton to task for buying 'cheapo' sexy underwear:
YOU would think FI flyer LEWIS HAMILTON could afford to buy his raunchy missus some top-dollar undercrackers.

But when he took PUSSYCAT DOLLS singer NICOLE SCHERZINGER out to buy lingerie, strangely he kept a brake on the spending.

On the back ledge of their car was a bag from keenly-priced frillies store La Senza.

Strange. I wonder where Lewis might have got the idea that La Senza was a sexy, sexy place to buy knickers from, then?

Perhaps it was Gordon Smart's drooling write-up of photos of Danielle Bux in La Senza pants.

Or the time Gordon Smart dribbled over another Danielle Bux in La Senza knickers shoot.

Hang about - maybe it was the time Gordon's column ran a piece by Stuart Pink that got all excited by yet another set of adverts featuring Danielle Bux promoting La Senza.

Oddly, on all those occasions, Gordon forgot to mention that he thought La Senza was a bit cheap and nasty.

Perhaps, though, it might help if Gordon read his own column. Gordon Smart's Bizarre USA features a fascinating video:
While Lewis was enjoying his new title, it was back to the day job for his PUSSYCAT DOLL missus NICOLE SCHERZINGER - after a quick message of love and congratulation which you can see by clicking below or right:

Nicole joined her band-mates to model their La Senza lingerie range, called Shhh.

So, the store is good enough to sell pants in, but not buy pants in, then, Gordon?

Or... and this may be uncharitable... but you don't think the carefully-placed and folded La Senza bag was simply an advertising ploy, do you?

Pussycat Dolls: Live from the Danity Kane split

It's hard to remember why we're meant to even be aware of, much less worried about, the Danity Kane split. Thank god we've got some top-level insight into the whole affair from, erm, the Pussycat Dolls:

"We are sisters," PCD's Ashley Roberts said. "And there's moments where no matter who you are, you're going through personal things, as well as things in your career, and so sometimes your head's not in the right place or you're emotional about something, and we have times where we're going through stuff, as every human being does, but we try to not take it personally and to communicate. And about Danity Kane, it's a sad thing that they did fall apart.

Funnily enough, those were very, very similar to the words that Gorbachev used when the Soviet Union collapsed. Apart from Kazakhstan not running off to do Playboy as soon as things got bad.

Of course, Ashley Roberts knows that her perspective alone is not enough to explain all the stuff that happens in your things which might make your head be misplaced. Luckily, the Dolls have more expertise on which to call:
"You know, a couple of years ago, we were hanging out with U2, and I made friends with the Edge, and I talked to him like, 'Wow, you guys get along so well, and you're so successful,' and one of the things he sad was that envy is evil, and to make sure you understand your place in the group and understand that everyone has their own spot in the group. It fits like a puzzle," Doll Jessica Sutta said. "We've managed to have a lot of respect for each other, because we've built a sisterhood, and we love each other, and we know that when we're onstage, each one is as important as the next. You know? Nicole is our lead singer, we support her as she supports us ... we make it work."

The Edge's advice is, effectively, then 'keep your head down, know your place, don't go trying to knock the big man off his perch'. I wonder why The Edge would have come to conclusion that, you know, you shouldn't be trying to push yourself onto the leader's pedestal? Perhaps he picked that up watching the Cactus World News or something, can't be from experience, can it?

Gordon in the morning: What boys like

Pussycat Dolls are playing tonight, which has sent Gordon off dreaming off the possibility of another twelve months' worth of stories about overpaid footballers dating underdressed singers:

An army of Premiership footballers are descending on the Pussycat Dolls gig in Cardiff tonight in the hope of pulling a Pussycat and becoming half of the next Posh and Becks.

Manchester United and Man City players have been block-booking PCD dates at the MEN arena.

Any football fan on the girls’ touring staff will have a tidy bargaining chip for free match tickets: A meet-and-greet with the eligible bachelorettes.

LADY GAGA is supporting, making it doubly certain any single footballers worth their salt (and probably a few married ones) will be getting down to the gig.

There's something almost - almost - sweet about Gordon imagining someone backstage as the Pussycat Dolls and Lady GaGa run about getting ready would view their position as nothing more than an excellent way to engineer a free pass to Bolton v West Ham.

I'm not sure why Gordon believes that Manchester Evening News Arena is in Cardiff.

Hey, Gordon, talking of Lady GaGa, she went out wearing not many clothes yesterday. Did you see?
It's Lady bra bra

Yes. He saw.

Gordon's team covers the raid at Amy Winehouse's flat, where fifteen grand of stuff was pinched - some of it irreplaceable.

Terrible luck for Amy, of course. It's almost as if the thieves knew where the flat was, like it had appeared in national newspapers regularly in the past, and that they knew the place was empty. But how could they have known Winehouse was in St Lucia? Any ideas, Gordon?

Gosh darn it, dontcha wish your boyfriend was hot like me?

Nicole Scherzinger has extended the hand of friendship to the toast of the mob, Sarah Palin. She's even suggested that the Pussycat Dolls might pal around with Palin - why, she could even get a try out for the band:

"She seems like a headstrong woman, a tough chick. And she's hot."

Funnily enough, those were the same qualities that led to the Republicans adopting her as the vice presidential candidate, although obviously the Pussycat Dolls tend to run better background checks before formally adopting a member.

James P - who brought this to our attention - points out this is US politic's very own "Margaret Thatcher was the first Spice Girl" moment. He concludes:
Oh, and she can see TaTu from her house too.

Gordon in the morning: Sit down, there's some reporting

It's not all writing about breasts, you know: Gordon's actually got a proper, decent story this morning:

COLDPLAY are being paid a whopping £1.2million to play a festival in Japan later this year.

If they gig for 75 minutes on both nights, they will trouser a jaw-dropping £8,000 A MINUTE.

We don't know where he's got the figure from, but assuming it's true and he's not merely dressed up a story he read in Billboard with a made-up figure, the scoop - and the accompanying picture of a very-smug looking Chris Martin - is a pretty solid one.

Of course, Gordon thinks this is brilliant news, and then spends some time getting excited - excited - over the prospect of a new Coldplay album before ending on a weak pun:
They should change their name to Goldplay.

And, with long lens shots of Cheryl Cole's ring finger and Pussycat Dolls in "undercrackers", it's quickly back to business as usual.

Pussycat Dolls split

Carit Bachar from the Pussycat Dolls has quit the band in order to be able to wear skirts below the knee.

Bachar was distinguished amongst the almost indistinguishable by being the sole member who was in the Dolls when they first set out as a dance troupe.

The band is expected to continue without anyone even noticing.

Don't you wish your career was hot like ours?

In her increasingly frantic efforts to try and shore up her American profile - in the wake of Radar magazine pillorying her and David as the "most over-rated couple" - Victoria Beckham is angling for a guest appearance with the Pussycat Dolls.

Although, really, she should be thinking about a small role in whatever panto the Krankies are doing this year instead.

Dolls make dolls

Despite last year's The Search For The New Doll falling to pieces when winner Asia Nitollano decided that rather than taking the dubious prize of membership of the Pussycat Dolls, she could dance about in her undies on her own and not have to split the take eight ways, there's to be a second series.

This time round, "The Pussycat Dolls" (the management of the Pussycat Dolls) will be looking for not one woman, but several, to form a new band. Which means there will be lots and lots of winners, if that's the correct word.

Perhaps they just don't like you?

Nicole Scherzinger, who is one of the Pussycat Dolls, has been moaning that men don't hit on her in bars. She has decided this is because she's intimidating:

"Guys are usually frightened of me so I don't really get hit on a lot.

"I think that's because it's the way, as a female, if you carry yourself in a certain way you don't get that.

"If you show that you are no nonsense and mean business, guys are less likely to bother with you."

Oh, yes, because you day job of writhing about in your knickers singing about how hot you are must make you come across like a veritable Germaine Greer figure.

You don't think the reason men don't come up to you in bars and ask you to dance might have less to do with them being intimidated by your "businesslike" attitude, and more to do with them being intimidated by the bouncers who patrol the edge of the VIP roping you'll be on the other side of?

Keith's daughter blanked by MTV

To a certain extent, when Lily Allen moans about Smile not being aired on MTV when kids might be watching (as if any kids watch MTV these days), she has a point:

"They said, `We don't want kids to grow up too quickly.' "But then you have PARIS HILTON and the PUSSYCAT DOLLS taking their clothes off and gyrating up against womanising, asshole men, and that's acceptable. "You're thinking your kids are gonna grow up quicker because they heard the word fuck than from thinking they should be shoving their tits in people's faces."

On the other hand, we're a little surprised that some channels were showing Smile pre-watershed anyway, as the depiction of poisoning a person by lacing their food with laxatives was a little dodgy for children's viewing.
