HOW SMART ARE YOU?: Last night was BBC One's now seemingly annual IQ quiz (didn't Lorraine Heggasy describe this as the sort of thing you could only once?) - and let's not even get started on how thrown together it seemed this year (look, it seemed to me to be a picture of a bottle of water - and you fill a GLASS with WATER, so it should be that you fill a SHOPPING TROLLEY with SHOPPING, okay?) or how culturally specific it was (questions about Mel Smith?) or even mention that they went to all the trouble of digging out Robin Nedwell's instantly forgotten idiot-thinks-he's-got-a-huge-IQ sitcom The Climber and then showed about three seconds from it, but let's just ask the big question: What the hell was Natalie Appleton doing on a programme designed to take the temperature of British intelligence?

It was clear just how far out of her depth she was when Anne Robinson turned to her, following some banter with redhead team about how they were all natural, not dyed, red, and asked: "What about you Natalie - are you an authentic blonde?"

Natalie didn't understand the question.
