CREDIT WERE IT'S DUE: Apparently, the RIAA have only just got around to thinking it might be worth presenting gold, silver and platinum prizes to downloads that sell incredibly well. We're not sure what form the award will take - since a gold record would be wrong, maybe it would have to be a golden mouse or something? - but what is interesting is why it's taken them so long to get round to it. It's indicative of the way the RIAA feel about downloads generally: they hoped it would go away, then they tried to make it go away; now they're scampering trying to take control of the neighbourhood they wanted to have pulled down, in a sickening game of catch-up.
