BASHIR SPARED COURT SANCTIONS: The Michael Jackson team in the ongoing child-abuse trial has had their attempt to hit Martin Bashir with a contempt of court citation knocked back by Judge Melville, despite Bashir having made two TV specials about the case in the last week or so. Bashir, of course, should be observing a court order not to make public statements about the case. The defense were also upset that Bashir had interviewed another witness, Corey Feldman. It's not clear yet why Melville rejected the calls; it's interesting that the defence don't seem quite as worried that Uri Gellar, who they're intending to call as a witness, has also been going round giving interviews about the case, but we're sure it's just a matter of time before they remind him of his duties, too.

Meanwhile, the prosecution have been trying to stop jurors being shown the Fox-approved pro-Jackson programme the singer had funded as a response to the Bashir programme. The defense say that it's important as a balance to the Bashir documentary; the prosectution say that it's hardly the same as it's just a "fawning tribute".
