FURTHER FACTORY CLOSURES: One of the few recording studios that could actually be used to benchmark "legendary", New York' Hit Factory, is to close.

Used for some or part of the recordings of Billy Joel, late period Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston's Bodyguard soundtrack, Paul Simon's Graceland and the Lennon-Ono double smug-in Double Fantasy, it's a miracle the place hasn't been razed to the ground by music lovers before now, but it's actually digital recording which has affected the studio's profitability. The team who run the place are going to downsize and relocate to Miami, presumably to a retirement condo complex.

The studio was the last place where John Lennon spent his last hours, and also one of the places where attempts to murder 50 Cent failed, so the new owner might want to look to improving the security.
