THE MAGIC TOUCH: Again and again, surveys tell us that young people really wish they were Richard Branson, because he's good at running companies. But is he? Take a look at the state of V2 which lost GBP10 million in the year up until June last year, according to their just-published accounts. That's on top of the previous year's loss of GBP48million and an emergency pumping in of GBP24million by Ivanco and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. And it's not because of piracy hitting sales, as director of the label is really happy with the way the label is going, proudly pointing to 500,000 Liberty X and nearly a million White Stripes records sold. They're just not very good at the business they've chosen to be in, we suppose.
