FOUR CHART POSITIONS FOR £6-99: Simon Tyers brings our attention to the current British album chart, which has been bludgeoned by the HMV sale - like zombies, for the last week or so Best ofs and Mosts of have marched their way up the listing, aided by being available for less than nothing. Of course, the bands doing the best out of it have had an extra shove to help their low, low prices - Morrissey's Suedehead collection, seemingly everything The Red Hot Chili Peppers have ever recorded, and the Stone Roses, the last of whom have managed a number nine in the chart this week following the Observer telling its readers its okay to like them. (At the time the album came out, of course, The Observer was still involved in doing very little apart from banging on about who owned Harrods and how delicious Lonrho were.) What's especially interesting about that is - as Simon points out - The Stone Roses never got higher than number 16 before.
