THE NEXT BIG THING?: Ewan McGregor failed to make brass bands sexy, but it could be time for a Brassed Off re-release: Brass band music is getting hot. Or at least warm-ish, in the States. Proving the extent to which Wal-Mart dominates the American music industry, a deal which allowed Altissimo records shelf space with Asda's American parent has boosted the biggest brass label to such an extent it's just hit the charts for the first time. (Apparently, brass band music goes towards the classical charts, if you're wondering). The surge of interest in brass music is also being attributed to, erm, Ronald Reagan's funeral (maybe Thatcher should release her eulogy on CD as well; we're sure that would be lapped up.) Let's hope that they don't start killing off presidents just to keep sales of Souza rising, though, eh?
