CELINE ADDS VOICE TO LIST OF QUESTIONS FOR BUSH TO ANSWER

As had been mentioned down in the comments section, Celine Dion has expressed her amazement at the shoddy federal response to Hurricane Katrina. Celine Dion, not hitherto that easily confused with Patti Smith:

Dion has accused the war-happy president of being more interested in the Middle East than his own backyard. "How come it's so easy to send planes in another country, to kill everyone in a second, to destroy lives at a time when Americans need to serve their own country, she said on the Larry King program on CNN."We need to serve our country, and be there right now to rescue the rest of the people. We need the cash, we need the blood, we need the support, right now we need the prayers."

Surprisingly, Celine seems to be more hardline on the Iraq issue than Kanye West was - who knows if it's going to be permanent, but there's clearly been something of a shift in American politics in the last week.

Thank you Celine for your honesty and grasp of reality of the facts!
You are correct in your assessment of Bush's priorities. His priorites do not reflect the interest of the people of the United States.

God Bless You!

Hey, Sayjack,

Yes, I was doing a concert on Monday night - I could have tried to get to New Orleans, but since FEMA were turning back people who were trying to help, and making firemen hand out leaflets instead of rescuing people, and the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries turned away a flotilla of volunteers who turned up with boats to help rescue people, it probably wouldn't have been worth my while.

I'm sorry you seem to think that being Canadian means that I have no right to express an opinion, when asked, about how the government I contribute to through taxes goes about its business. But I can see why Americans might not be enjoying the scrutiny right now.

Hi Celine,
I saw you on Larry King and heard your heart for those who have lost everything in Katrina.

Like you said that night, a $1,000,000 will never replace a simple hand or a bottle of water to the one in need. However, I have been working in a Red Cross shelter in middle Tennessee since the beginning of this and I can tell you the $1,000,000 doesn't hurt either! Most of the little Red Cross chapters in the south who had to take refugees were not prepared to build shelters for 500-1000 people in a week. It's the equivalent to starting up a 800-person company in a week. They need every penny...

God's given you a potential to move many hearts to compassion in this hour. Politics and politicians will come and go, but love never fails. When each one of us start loving the one, things will change.

Blessings,
