LIBRARIES GAVE US POWER...

... then someone noticed the value of the land if the entire school building was converted into a nice set of executive homes. ("Executive homes" doesn't mean a house that an executive would live in, just one only an executive could afford.)

Yes,Oakdale Comp in Blackwood - the playgrounds upon which the young Manics first met, felt their bodies changing, and swapped make-up tips - is being threatened with closure. Nicky Wire and his brother, long-term Manics Bez-in-residence Patrick Jones, are fighting to keep the place open. And they've got a great case - what parent wouldn't want to send their kids to a school which turned out well-rounded sorts like Nicky, Patrick and Richey?
