MCGRAW WANTS TO MAKE LAW
When celebrities go into political life, it's seldom a good thing, but Bill Clinton seems to think that Tim McGraw swapping country and western for some sort of legislature would be a good thing:
"I think he's got it," Mr Clinton said of McGraw in a magazine story. "The Democrats need candidates whom people can relate to in a personal way, people who understand their lives and their concerns and share their values. And I think that's something Tim can do without even pretending."
We love the last three words in that endorsement, which seems to imply something about the rest of the Democrats in public life at the moment, doesn't it?
Still, it's going to be a while before we see McGraw on the stump; he says he won't enter politics until "the music has died down."
Let's hope Robbie Williams doesn't see this as a great plan - if he turned up saying "I'll run for MP if people stop buying my music", we'd be straight down the Virgin Megastore waving an Egg card around.
