THE NEXT TIME BABY THAT I CAME FOR YOU
While the return of Kula Shaker may be a mixed blessing (if you replace the word "mixed" with "terrible", and think of a blessing as being like a disaster for all mankind), more encouraging news comes from Brixton, where Green Gartside played his first gig for 26 years. Yes, out of Scritti Politti. Working under the name Double G and the Treacherous 3, there was no old stuff at all. There's going to be a new album out in the Spring, although the chances of him being invited along to Smash Hits to talk about Italian communism this time round seems unlikely.

This is an even more welcome return that Kate Bush's.
Ah, the Pete Doherty of his day!
Wonder what the ravages of time have done to him. Oh the floppy fringe, the 'billowy coat - king of pain' thing...delicious.
Almost I don't want to see. I mean look at Peter Gabriel.

What? Show your working, thensheappeared poster!
Read 'Rip it Up' by Simon Reynolds, very good account of post punk and new wave.
My favorite part is the Martyn Fry anecdote but he's also good on GG.
Funnily enough, I bought that just before Christmas, but haven't got round to reading it yet.
