AT THE EDGE OF THE CHART

Interesting behaviour over at Tesco.com, where they're apparently cutting the price of The Sun's woeful Dads Army World Cup tune to just twenty pence a download.

Not, of course, in any way to try and rig the chart battle for number one most pointless world cup song.

The Sun reckons:

It makes our release a MUST-BUY for every music and footie fan.
In real terms, given inflation, it is the cheapest single ever.

Don't quite understand why selling a shit record for next-to-nothing makes it a must-buy - it reminds us of that joke where they baker tries to sell a woman a sandwich and she says "but I saw you spit in it" and the baker says "Yes, but it's also half-price" so she says "I'll take a dozen."

But they're right - trying to suggest Klinsmann and Hitler are somehow interchangeable does make it the cheapest single ever. Even without allowing for inflation.
