KILLERS ON THE LOOSE. SOON.

Mark Stoermer, the Killers' bassist, has been talking all about their new album. He probably wasn't supposed to, but you know what bassists are like when they've been bought a Big Mac meal:

"Overall it's still pop songs by a rock band, which is what we liked about ourselves before and I think other people did too. It sounds different, but it still sounds like us."

Actually, if there was going to be any astonishing new sound for the band, the bassist would always have been amongst the last to find out, now we come to think of it.

He's a lot more low key about it than Brandon Flowers- he was quoted on Stereogum a few weeks back saying that the new album was going to be the best album of the last 25 years. Cue several thousand hipsters trying to work out whether they liked The Killers or The Bravery that week, before shouting him down with hoots of derision.
In this instance, I think it's safe to take the bassist's view as being most accurate. Speaking of which, much as I loved Hot Fuss, I never got round to learning what the bass player's name was. Sorry, er, Thingy.
