Only the pinch of salt can disguise the bad taste

Let's hope that the report in the News of the World this morning that Paul McCartney is offering twenty million to Heather for the custody of the kid is the product of a slack afternoon in a newsroom and not a genuine offer.

Apart from anything, it makes our heads hurt trying to decide if the person making such an offer would be a larger moral vacuum than someone accepting such an offer.

This story is apparently sourced from the same place as the thrown bottle of ketchup story, which the News uses as some of evidence of its veracity. Although, of course, the only place where that rumour appeared was in the News, and as it was from the same deep throat, that doesn't quite work, does it?
