Girls Aloud bottom line

We're a little surprised Declan at the Stock Exchange didn't find room in the BBC Breakfast business bulletin to cover the figures from Girls Aloud.

The band made £1,234,267 and spent £1,262,572. Micawbers amongst you will note this sees more going out than the band has coming in, which The Sun suggests might be a bad thing:

GIRLS Aloud raked in £1,234,267 in a year — but BLEW the lot on partying.

The wild pop band made a LOSS, despite having had a number one album last month.

But the band hold a small credit in the bank, and the money from an album released last month is unlikely to be showing up in accounts that have already been signed off and filed. And, as we're sure Rupert Murdoch would have explained to his journalists if they'd thought to ask, having spends to offset against your income can actually be a pretty good thing as far as corporate tax is concerned.

Rather than suggesting a bunch of boozy floozies, the Girls Aloud accounts suggest they're getting rather shrewd advice.

Assuming, of course, most of those spends are wages for the band.
