LaLa lands, heavily

Lala.com, which last month morphed from a CD swap site into one offering streaming music for free has axed its USP and will now, no longer, allow visitors to listen for nothing.

The business plan - where the one cent per play it was shuffling over to the labels would be recouped from profits of selling downloads and CDs - proved unworkable. But at least they tried.
