Robyn blind

There's an unusual story in today's People:

RED RED ROBYN

Has Robyn been persuaded by the delights of the Beijing games to embrace communism?

Not quite:
Don't mess with feisty GIRLS ALOUD - as embarrassed singer ROBYN found out when she objected to them singing her No1 hit With Every Heartbeat at last week's V Festival.

The band have been belting out the song at gigs all summer, but after Robyn's complaint on Sunday they hit back by dropping it altogether. A source said: "It caused a bit of a hoo-ha so Girls Aloud scrapped it from their set."

Am I being a bit thick? If Robyn didn't want them to do the song, and they didn't, why would Robyn be embarrassed by that? Is the People suggesting that perhaps Robyn wanted Girls Aloud to only sing the chorus? "Oh, how embarrassing... I asked them to not sing my song... and they only went and didn't sing my song. Do I feel a chump..."

I'm also a bit baffled by the attempt to whip up some sort of conflict - 'Don't mess with feisty GIRLS ALOUD... they hit back by dropping it altogether'.

Feisty? Hit back? How do they manage to get that from "If you ask Girls Aloud to stop doing something, they'll stop doing it immediately"? Is that anything like "Don't mess with feisty PEOPLE NEWSPAPER - as embarrassed singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS found out when he objected to them suggesting he was secretly gay. After Robbie's complaint, they hit back by accepting the stories were untrue and agreeing undisclosed damages"?

Maybe the writer was pushed for time and decided to reuse an old story template, substituting "Covering 'With Every Heartbeat'" for "Taking handfuls of complimentary lollipops", and 'Robyn' for 'Nightclub toilet attendant'
