Will Young offers to bring his experience of, erm, stuff to Question Time

I can just about understand the tendency by Question Time to bring hip young things who appeal to younger audiences onto the panel. I can get why someone might be invited on because they have a unique and expert perspective on subjects of popular debate.

I can't, for the life of me, work out which of these criteria would qualify Will Young for a seat, though.

The producer heard Will say on Radio 2 that he was a fan of the programme so she invited him. He has a 2.2 degree in politics and you can tell in interviews that he is obviously intelligent and articulate so thats probably the reason why.

Once you've had Alex James on presumably the world is open to your booking agent.

A lower second hardly makes you Hugo Young, and I can't really recall any interview in which Will has offered any indication that he has any expertise in, say, the question of Post Office pension provision after a part-privatisation. If being able to string a sentence together was all it took, you could have Russell Brand on.

@Simon
That'd be nearer the mark, I'd guess. Steve Brookstein has indicated he's got some free Thursdays in February.

Ah you obviously never read the resume of his Oxford Union debate then..

Hi Will!

I assume you mean 'transcript'. I've read it and to be fair, it makes absolutely no mention of Post Office pension provision after a part-privatisation.

Ah, yes, his appearance at the Oxford Union - refresh my memory, was he on before or after Gok Wan's appearance? Or Keith Chegwin's? Doing the Oxford Union now is actually less difficult than getting a slot in a decent panto.

I believe that Kermit the frog has also appeared before the Oxford Union. And he's a better singer.
