Glastonbury 2009: View from the sofa - Bruce Springsteen
So, as is so often the case, you shouldn't believe anything you read on the internet: BBC 2 has got Bruce.
It's not clear, though, if the steam rising from the man who likes to be called The Boss a little too much is a snazzy, showman's special effect, or if it is just the sweat of hard work leaving his shoulders. Or perhaps his pants are on fire.
We must await the results in the morning.
But, oh, I don't think I've ever heard such an anaemic Born To Run.

After much hype by the BBC only 14 of the 26 songs were shown in what was claimed to be a 'live' performance. This is patently untrue.
The show began around 10pm and was broadcast on BBC6. The first 9 songs were aired before the channel switched to Franz Ferdinand. It was shown on BBC2 around 11.15pm introduced by the totally inept Whilley and Radcliffe, both of whom claim not to have seen the 'Boss' before. The show was edited to remove 12 songs from the set list. It was difficult to tell at first but the editing is obvious when viewed again. BBC claimed this was live. It wasn't. It was a sham and the BBC should repay the viewers their tv tax. The BBC were patronsing and ageist as well as not producing the goods they advertised.
The set was okay by Bruce's standards - he seemed tired, maybe after being too hyped up at the start?? - he was better at the Emirates last year but who am I to say, I've only been following him since the 1970's.....
Don't be such a miseryguts OldRaver, we was effing brilliant. I'm sorry if you thought he looked rather tired after a mere 2 hours and 40 minutes. If you can produce 1/10th of what he does at his age, I'll take you a tad more seriously. He can still do it. He is still the Boss. Fantastic show, and thank you BBC.
and (for what little it is worth) I too have been following him since the beginning of his career...
sorry got bored with him very fast, it all seemed to be the same churn with no variation, slow, boring. Turned TV off after Thunder Road - one of my favourites from years ago when he really did rock.
maybe it got better, but quite frankly couldn't be bothered to see if it did.
and yes i have been a fan from his first albums.
maybe the editing did him no favours but just got fed up watching him poncing around the audience rather than rocking. waste of a great band really.
