Who knew that Janes Addiction picking up the offcuts of Guns N Roses would end in tears?

Just five months after Duff McKagan turned up in Janes Addiction, he's out again.

"Hey, we wanted to thank Duff for helping us write songs for our new record," Jane's Addiction told The AP via e-mail.

"We love the songs we worked on with him - and the gigs were a blast - but musically we were all headed in different directions. From here Duff is off to work on his own stuff so we wish him all the best."

All headed in different musical directions, and yet none of them on the right path.

Eric Avery's uncomfortable presence on the seemingly never-ending Janes Addiction reunion meant they could market themselves as the classic line up.

Not any more, though, as he's walked. He announced it on Twitter, so it must be true.

Avery said he'd only decided to do the reunion when the NME gave the band some sort of 'old band' prize; presumably now the trickle of 'you woz grate' prizes has come to an end, Avery has chosen to go back home.

Janes Addiction are delighted to have photographers come up and take pictures of their shows.

Oh, providing they sign paperwork passing all copyright in any pictures they might take straight to the band.

Managerobit: Gary Kurfirst

Former manager and label executive Gary Kurfirst has died while holidaying in the Bahamas.

Kurfirst started out promoting gigs in Manhattan, and in 1969 created the New York Rock Festival, inadvertently providing one of the inspirations for Woodstock. He also ran his own record labels and publishing businesses, but it as a manager that he really secured his career. In his time, he represented The Ramones, The Talking Heads, Jane's Addicition, Mick Jones, Shirley Manson and The Eurythmics.

The cause of his death at the age of 61 is unknown; he is survived by his wife, his mother, two children and two grandchildren.

Addiction resumes - for just one hit

Yeah, yeah, we know: You're only coming back to it for one time, you're strong, you can just get a taste and not need to develop a full habit again. Just one. For old time's sake. You're strong, you've stopped before, and stopped for a long time. A little one isn't going to turn into a full-on comeback, is it?
