Tom Jones goes vinyl only

This is lovely: Tom Jones has created a limited-edition, coloured-vinyl version of his Jack White collaboration Evil, and is only selling it through Spillers.

Spillers being the shop in Cardiff where he bought records when he was a tiny Tom.

Abbey Road goes indie

The idea of giving independent US record stores a special, hugely limited edition of Abbey Road to sell is one which has a correctly-positioned heart. But it might have been more generous to have released the records at the start of the Beatles reissue circus, rather than just as the already-limp circus is selling off the last of clown cars.

A news pulse from the Los Campesinos, erm, camp warns the world to be ready for new stuff:

27th October sees the release of what the majority of you have decided to call our 'second' 'album'. Not that we ever have mind you.

- There will be no singles released from this RECORD.

- This RELEASE is going to be limited. There will be one, worldwide run of CDs, and then it will be out of print. Done with.

-The package comes in a 14cm by 19cm by 2.5cm two-piece card box. That makes it rectangular in shape.

- The CD will be accompanied by a self-made DVD documentary of our weekend at Oya festival and SummerSonic in August of this year.

- It also includes a 30+ page 'zine, including the record's lyrics and contributions by artists including Xiu Xiu, Grandaddy, Tender Forever, Menomena, Parenthetical Girls and Paul Heaton, based around the title 'We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed'.

- Also each box comes with an exclusive poster drawn for us by Jeffrey Brown.

In other words: it's going to be veryveryveryrare and veryverydesirable. And thus, worth a small fortune on eBay. Potentially.

KMFDM - doing it 24/7

To mark the, erm, all-important 24th anniversary of KMFDM, the band have announced a series of (of course) 24 seven inch singles: 24/7, you see. The singles will be released, one at a time, at the start of each month, meaning the 24th birthday anniversary will stretch out into 2010. The release is limited to 250 copies each. Which doesn't have 24 in it.

Pink dots, black circle

The Legendary Pink Dots are lining up a hyper-limited, gorgeously presented, vinyl-only rerelease of their 2004 Alchemical Playschool album. The CD version was limited to just 400; the vinyl edition will comprise just 250 copies. The free poster they've chucked in might just be over-egging.
