BANG ZOOMA, NO GO-GO

Attempts to spin a touring event off the back of the US Bonnaroo festivals have come to nothing, with a bill of Phish frontman Trey Anastasio and Ben Harper failing to tempt people across the states of buy tickets. The Zooma tour had the plug pulled. Producer Jonathan Mayers has been pondering why it didn't fly:

"We went into this hoping to do a whole concourse activity and really present a full entertainment experience, and because of where we are with sales we aren't able to deliver that. So we all mutually agreed to pull the plug."

Asked why the concept didn't take off, Mayers said, "It's really hard to say. I just think at the end of the day the synergy just didn't work like we thought it would -- it just didn't resonate with the audience."

We don't have an MBA, but we do suspect we can see a problem with a rock event whose organisers talk about it in terms of "a whole concourse activity" and having "synergy", like it was Pepsi Pissing Max or something.

Meanwhile, it appears that the man who died at last week's Bonnaroo had sleep apnoea problems; in effect, it looks like he snored himself to death, although no formal cause has yet been announced.
