GREEN DAY FROM A DISTANCE
So, the first of this year's big gigs at the Milton Keynes Bowl (or the "national" bowl, as it likes to style itself; although we're not sure it's ever quite risen high enough in people's estimation to deserve its National status - it's not Stonehenge or anything), with Green Day playing two nights. There's been less traffic problems than were caused by Neil Diamond at Woburn last week - partly because Woburn falls into Bedfordshire Police's realm, and they're not so hot at this sort of thing; partly because the average Green Day fan is too young to drive.
Saturday's gig barely registered from our vantage point - about four grid squares away - although we did see the fireworks; tonight, the music carried - just - into our back garden, but the closing fireworks seemed to be much more muted.
Tescos, this afternoon, was full of young people shopping with their parents wearing crisp new Green Day tshirts.
