AS IT SHOULD BE
The Unity Festival - held in honour of Anthony Walker, the young guy knifed by scumtwits from Huyton - took place yesterday in Liverpool's Princes Park. Despite the rumours of interest from big name bands in taking part in such an event, yesterday's concert featured fifteen Liverpool based bands, including Pete Wylie and the reformed Jahdeeanko. It seems more fitting for Liverpool bands to make up the bill for such an event: the focus should always have been on reflection and the city rather than gimmicks and national attention. Apart from anything, by mounting a loud and firm anti-racism event from within its citizenry, Liverpool was able to demonstrate that it has the will and the heart to solve the problems it faces; that it's not so far gone it can only be "saved" with outside help.
