THE BRITISH PRESS IS ANTI-AMERICAN, DON'T YOU KNOW

If we didn't know that this comes from ContactMusic, we'd have assumed this piece had come from Fox News:

The ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS singer was thrilled to walk away with the prestigious British award this month (07SEP05), but is reeling from the criticism launched at him by some UK newspapers - because he was raised in America.

Hegart says, "It can be really dramatic reading all those opinions of you, but you shouldn't read that stuff, it'll only make you crazy."

Except... nobody has attacked Antony because he was American - there was some press comment on why a prize for British music has gone to an act that had very light connections to Britain, but it's a little guttery of Contact to report that and make it sound like a bunch of kids in Gap jeans and Sonic Youth tshirts have been launching racially motivated slurs on him.
