IF ONLY SHE COULD ACTUALLY MAKE CONVINCING POP MUSIC

God, we'd love to love Charlotte Church - maybe if someone could give her some dancing lessons or something, or bought her a load of Banarama DVDs it might help. But we're thinking more and more we should overlook her unconvincing delivery, because, frankly, people who can smack out perfect ripostes like her reaction to Cheryl Tweedy are the sort of people we need in pop.

Tweedy, as you might remember, reckoned Charlotte had stolen "the Girls Aloud style" (itself lifted from Toto Coelo). Charlotte's response?

"I thought, love, when you can fucking sing Ave Maria, then have a go."
