CLEAR CHANEL

Copyright woes for Cut Copy, who've come off the worse in a copyright battle with Chanel. The overpriced clothes and perfume maker wasn't happy with the band's shirts, which spoofed the famous ten-minutes-with-a-etch-a-sketch double C logo:

"We fought the law and the law won," [singer Dan] Whitford told NME.COM. "They totally beamed us to death and we've given our shirts back. We quite quickly stopped when we were advised that they could pretty much take us for all we're worth."

There might be more troubles ahead, too. Big Frankie, of Frankie's Fashions down the market (the aisle with the burger van on the end, opposite the dried fruit stand) is also mulling legal action:

"I'm really hacked off with this hijacking of knock-off Chanel gear by this band. I've been flogging fake Chanel stuff for years, and I don't like this bunch trying to confuse my punters by producing their own versions of Chanel-like stuff. They will be hearing from my solicitors. Or maybe my brother-in-law Charlie, who hasn't had legal training but is handy with his knuckles."
