PETE DOHERTY: GET MYSELF ARRESTED

This was, of course, inevitable: Following last night's Babyshambles gig in Shrewsbury, there was a police raid at the venue which resulted in the arrest of Pete Doherty and an as yet unknown woman for possession of Class A drugs.

The pair have been held overnight and are expected to start being questioned right about now.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "In the early hours of this morning officers stopped a mini bus in Shrewsbury town centre and detained a number of people for the purposes of a drugs search.

"Officers also attended one premises in Shrewsbury and detained a number of other individuals."

He said they had acted on intelligence that people were suspected of using class A drugs in the town.

We love the way that makes it sound like it's a top-secret undercover operation, rather than there were big posters up all around the town saying "TONITE: That bloke what did crack wiv Kate Moss."

Today's Sunday Mirror has a paid-for story from a drug dealer (which, we admit, limits the credibility of the tale quite a degree) who claims he flogged Pete heroin and crack on Thursday night, and enjoyed a bit of a chat with him about how he plans to get back with Kate once she's out of rehab.
