R KELLY WILL HAVE TO FACE TRIAL: "LIKE, DUH" SAYS JUDGE

You've got to love the R Kelly defence team - they tried to get the whole shagging a kid and filming it charges thrown out on the grounds that the prosecution weren't entirely sure when the video was made.

The Judge was unimpressed with their arguments.

What struck me as the strangest thing about the story is that none of this has hampered his career. It looks like his defence has been based on the technicalities of legal procedure rather than proving his innocence and yet the American public are still queueing up to buy his records. I'd have thought that, regardless of the legal wrangling, to most people the list of evidence would be pretty compelling. A trial court judge may decide that bungled seizures rule photo evidence of him with an underage girl inadmissable but I'm surprised that public opinion in the States hasn't been harsher on him.
