MISTER WRITER... WHY DON'T YOU TELL IT LIKE IT REALLY IS

Everyone has a book in them. That doesn't, of course, mean they should let it out. Latest musician who has excitedly realised that they, too, could have a go at getting a novel or some short stories published is Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics. Which in itself is quite crushing as concepts go, but it's going to get worse:

“Some of the early songs such as ‘Local Boy In The Photograph’ started out as short stories. The clowns in the Mr Writer video was another one."

Oh really... you're telling us that your past form involves creating some sad clowns? Oh, the humanity. All that can stand between us and total, certain disaster is the hope there might be a good editor who will tell him "no."

“A friend edited Sophie Dahl’s short stories. She’s going to look at mine and tell me if they’re worth putting out.”

Sophie Dahl's editor? From her short stories? (BBC New Online described them as "at first glance it looks like a children's book; pictures fill most of the 80 pages, and it takes about 12 minutes to read.") We're doomed.
