BEATING OFF

As part of the asset-reworking at following the merger of Capital and GWR group, Beat 106 in Scotland is turning into XFM on Tuesday. As is the style with radio relaunches, they've created a bufferzone between the old station format and the new one. Now, when Radio City 1548 became Magic1548, they filled nearly fourteen hours of airtime playing the same five singles with the word "Magic" in the title, but they've been a bit smarter in Scotland and currently - streaming on the net as well - Beat 106 is going out with the Top 1000 "vaguely indie-ish" songs as voted for by their listeners, playing non-stop (except for adverts).

They've just got to 771 - Celebrity Skin by Hole.
